    Spring Into a New Smile

Posted on March 31st, 2014 by Dr. Peter Tomaselli

It's going to reach 60 degrees today in Chicago! It seems that spring is finally here, and we don't know about you, but we're happy! So get out, enjoy the weather and show off that smile!

If you are feeling self conscious about your teeth, add a new smile to your spring wardrobe. No matter what is causing your smile frustration, we can fix it for you! At your initial consultation, Dr. Tomaselli and the Chicago Smile Design team will take the time to understand your goals and recommend the best treatment for your individual needs.

Whitening An in-office professional teeth whitening can whiten your teeth up to eight shades, and the results are noticeable almost instantly. Your dentist will apply a special whitening agent, one that is much stronger than those in over-the-counter products. You will also have equipment that prevents these strong chemicals from touching the gums and other areas in your mouth. These amazing results are also easily maintained - so long as you keep up with your home dental hygiene routine. You can also ask your dentist for whitening products to use at home.

Veneers These thin pieces of porcelain can make a huge difference in the appearance of your smile, and are stronger and more stain-resistant than enamel. Your dentist will individually sculpt the veneers to match your teeth as a fix for overlaps, gaps, chips and breaks. He or she can even show you what the end result could look like before you commit to the treatment using cosmetic imaging.

Bonding Bonding is a great option for restoring teeth that have large breaks and chips, as it looks and functions like a natural tooth. This treatment is less expensive than veneers or crowns, but that doesn't mean they are any less effective. With proper placement from an experienced cosmetic dentist, and regular oral health maintenance, bonding can be long-lasting.

Bridges This procedure involves a porcelain "bridge" to replace a missing tooth using the teeth on either side of the gap as a foundation. The porcelain is sculpted to match the rest of the teeth so it will blend in with existing natural teeth, improving the appearance of not only the missing tooth, but the surrounding teeth as well.

Implant Missing teeth can cause other teeth to shift and become misaligned, affecting the facial structure and leading to bite problems. Dental implants are one of the most effective procedures to replace missing teeth, as the implant is fused into the jaw bone with a titanium post, allowing the implanted tooth to fully function as a natural one.
