    Steps For Tooth Extraction

Posted on June 8th, 2016 by Dr. Peter Tomaselli

There are a few cases where your tooth absolutely has to be extracted because of the excruciating pain that some problems can cause. One of these problems could be crowded teeth or your wisdom teeth It is also common to take out one or many teeth to prevent a tooth from cracking or decaying and causing a lot of other problems and pain. This procedure is one that is simple and should cause no concern because of the procedure being so common. The steps for a tooth extraction are a little intimidating but it is nothing to worry about.

    Pre-Tooth Extraction Steps

The first step to any tooth extraction procedure is an x-ray. Having an x-ray done on your mouth is a step that is crucial to the procedure because this helps the dentist find the tooth’s position and look for any issues that could cause problems in the future or during the procedure. Another important step before the procedure is the thorough evaluation of all of your health and drug records. This is essential because they need to know if anything could cause complications. This also determines whether or not you can get put under anesthesia, and if you can, how much you can get without there being any problems. Some procedures don’t require any anesthesia, or just very little of it, because of the tooth extraction is simple. However, there are some extractions that do require anesthesia because it is a more complicated extraction.

    Steps During the Tooth Extraction

A tooth is usually not a complicated thing to remove and dental extractions in Chicago are easily done. The tooth is only held on by really tiny fibers that are easily removed from the tooth. Because of the fibers being manipulated, it tends to cause some pain that your dentist will normally prescribe medication for. If you are experiencing tooth pain, contact Chicago Smile Design. We can take a look at your tooth and determine the best treatment plan. Do not worry if it does need to be pulled; the relief you will feel will be much greater than any discomfort associated with the extraction. In addition, we are experts in cosmetic dentistry and can replace the tooth easily with different cosmetic options. Dental Extractions Chicago
